ISCA UNMDGs2005ZAMBIA is an abbreviation for International Students
Conference on AIDS and United Nations Millennium Development Goals. The
1st ISCA Conference was held in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania from
3rd - 9th February, 2004. The idea originated from
a workshop, which was held between 16th-17th May
2002, whose aim was to create sensitization and awareness on HIV/AIDS
among students of higher learning institutions in Tanzania. This
workshop brought about the decision of holding the first ISCA
conference. The conference was officially opened by his excellence the
former Secretary General of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), Dr.
Salim Ahmed Salim. The theme of the conference was “Youth-Force for
Change” and it brought together about 320 delegates from all shades of
lives in Africa and other parts of the world as far as Brazil. In line
with the theme, hundreds of scientific findings were presented during
the conference as well as the sharing of social knowledge and real-life
experiences. This conference did not only offer sharing on HIV/AIDS
situation in various countries but also facilitated a social and
cultural exchange of knowledge. At the end of this conference it was
decided that the conference be held on a rotational basis from region to
region. It is in this aspect that Zambia is hosting the 2nd
ISCA conference called 2nd ISCA UNMDGs 2005ZAMBIA from 17th—23rd
July 2005.
The Conference
will also be a moment to table the progress of the on-going proceedings
of a UNMDGs Study Survey running and participated by majority of
the past 1st International Students Conference on AIDS (ISCA)
participants that was held in Tanzania in February 2004. |
